Global Perspective:
As an active citizen and a person who believes that giving back to the community is a humbling experience, doing the medallion was only the final step to learning from others. Attending an international school has only enriched my love for different cultures. I have taken a handful of Global Learning courses to meet the requirement for my major. I did not think they would be interesting, but being in those classes have given me a new outlook on how things should be handled or approached. I find myself educating others about my culture and why I do things certain ways. Even in the professional field, I find myself getting frustrated with those who haven't taken a culture enrichment course because I believe it would help the upper management grow the company.
Global Awareness:
After completing all the requirements to receive the medallion I find myself looking at the world through new eyes. I find myself looking for opportunities in countries that I only thought about visiting, let alone live or work there. Many did not understand why I did this medallion but I chose to do it help me understand the cultures that have surrounded me my whole life , while learning about my own culture as well. Especially, in the time we are living today, I feel that everyone should level to one another to learn and embrace each other as human beings. I am an extremely positive person, so bringing awareness to been culturally enriched is a blessing.
Global Engagement:
Most of my own service was geared towards the Haitian community because I was born there and felt a need to give back to my motherland. I have helped with feeding the homeless in Little Haiti, a hurricane relief drive for Haiti, and the mentorship program. I have also worked with the Belize festival, Alternative Breaks, Women who leads, Librety ci and CWS Thanksgiving.
